HP X2 Split/ Windows 8.1 Refuse to sleep or shutdown

Can't Shutdown
Using a HP X2 Split, and with its SSD drive, i'm getting used to never shutting off the PC, simply close the Lid and it Sleeps, saving its state and Battery, this has been going smooth for quite some time, till recently when i open the lid and the Laptop feels warm and the battery is almost dead.
Found out that the laptop can't sleep or shutdown, when i put it to sleep it wakes up, and when i shutdown, it will start up after shutdown is done.
This is a very elementary problem, and i was initially blaming Windows 8.1
After much reading, it mentioned a faulty driver may be the cause, some mention bluetooth
  1. So i tried disabling all things bluetooth, but did not work
  2. Next i tried looking at all items in device manager, hitting 'power management' and unchecking 'allow this device to wake up pc' but that did not work
  3. Suspecting the OS, i reinstalled windows 8.1 (keeping programs and setting intact), nope didnt work
  4. Re-install windows (wipe out everything), works at the start, but after installing office 2013, problem resurfaced. but i conclude "cant be ms office as i was running it before with no issue"
  5. Decided to install windows 10 technical preview, and again after installing ms office the problem came back.
  6. Read hp support forum that 'the track pad' had issues for some, so i disable the trackpad...
  7. Problem solved!

Sigh, nope yest when I shut down. It did shutdown after disabling trackpad, today the problem is back... I'm starting to feel that il
  • A. It is a hardware issue
  • B. HP laptop are rubbish
  • C. Dell is starting to look good right now
  • D. MS surface 2 is going for under SG$500

A very comprehensive Page on troubleshooting (PC that wont shutdown) WOW

Yes, the problem is not solved, i have decided to do a clean install of windows 8.1, which in the process involves formatting all drives. (which i found that HP create alot of partitions that are hidden) anyways after installing windows 8.1. Problem persist. Conclude its a hardware issue.

We called HP service center, and they immediately mention that i may be the solid state drive 64GB is faulty. Cost to replace? SGD$500++..

So i have decided to move on. and get a new laptop.

I know i need the following
a. SSD Drive
b. has built in VGA out
c. Touch Screen
d. 4th Gen Intel i5
e. at least 7 hr of battery life.

only 1 laptop meet this. Toshiba Protege.
